Outstanding Book! A must read!

“A contemporary point of view of well-being in a post-Covid world. I have applied many of the principles successfully on myself and with my teams in a Fortune 500 organizational setting. I have read many business books and this by far is the best one I have read.”

Jeanette gives us the much-needed tools to rethink what it means to use our minds and take a step at a time toward excellence while showing us how to listen for the small clues inside each of us that ask us to care for our mental health along the way.”

what if we have self-care all wrong?

The world has changed, our lives have changed, and in recent years, our work has changed. Despite the disruption, our relationship to and understanding of self-care have remained the same.

  • We think of self-care as a retreat or something fluffy. But what if, instead, we thought self-care was for focused and committed individuals who want to perform consistently at their peak without burning out?

  • We think of self-care as a side hustle—something we do after work to recover. But what if, instead, we thought of self-care as how we work better so we don’t need to recover?

  • We think of self-care as something we do when we have time. But what if, instead, we thought of self-care as giving us time back because we spend it better?

  • We think of self-care as a list of perfect habits to do. But what if, instead, we thought of self-care as a mindset that helps us better navigate stress?

  • We think of self-care as something we do alone. But what if, instead, we thought of self-care as the key to building a better and healthier culture?

On and on these paradoxes go. On top of this, we think the cure for burnout is taking time off, and our emotions should be hidden or suppressed. But we don’t just burn out from working too much; we burn out from worrying too much. And our emotions are the last thing we should ignore as they are what define us as human beings and are the doorway to cultivating connection, communication, and collaboration.

To create change, we have to change the way we THINK, ENGAGE, and ACT. This begins with the conversations we have with ourselves as they define so much of our human experience and impact the way we feel and behave.

The Self-Care Mindset® is a guide to understanding yourself better so that you can make choices that work better for you. It challenges you to rethink your relationship with self-care while providing the tools to define how to reach your goals without sacrificing your health and joy by protecting and unlocking our greatest resource: our shared humanity.

The self-care mindset will teach you to:

  • Harness change by learning how to manage stress and navigate FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) so you reclaim agency and rediscover what you care about.

  • Shift from a burnout mindset running on survival mode to a care-driven mindset that serves as the foundation for peak performance, engagement, and growth.

  • Learn to build an ecosystem of relationships with yourself, with others, and with work itself to create a better culture together.

In addition, you’ll also learn how to turn my most effective teachings from working with thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations over the last two decades into thoughtful action, including:

  • Power-Pausing - how to think better by reclaiming that small gap in time to notice, listen, and make a more discerning decision to create the change you want to see.

  • The CARE Framework - how to engage better by asking constructive questions so you can learn what you need to harness your human advantage.

  • AAA - how to act with agency by cutting through the noise when faced with FUD and holding forward-thinking conversations with others.

Let’s face it, focusing on "work-life balance" is outdated and not relevant to our new world. Now is the time we focus our efforts on "work-life quality," and this starts with recognizing that work is an ecosystem of relationships, beginning with the one we have with ourselves. Accessing what it means to be human and equipping ourselves with the tools to reclaim agency in our lives and our work —which is the true definition of self-care.

If you’re a working professional, entrepreneur, academic, front-line worker, manager, executive, or you simply want to learn the tools to lead a successful life and healthy career, I’d invite you to join the conversation to redefine the future of work. Self-care isn’t just about you, it’s how we create more care-driven and inclusive work cultures and communities - because what we care about grows stronger.

If anyone in your network may find value in this book, your passing it along would mean the world.

being human is not a problem to solve; WE are ALL an advantage to harness!

“I am still reading, but what a powerful framework! I am already benefiting - finding more happiness and productive focus on all the great things that matter, not letting fear/uncertainty/self-doubt chip away from my ability to realize my true potential.”

Artour Parmakian, IBM

“It all begins with changing our mind. For me, it was when my parents died of cancer just ABOUT a year apart. I started asking myself questions about what matters and what I care about. Questions about how I could be a team with myself, live a meaningful life and be successful in my career. How I could build strong relationships and do work that matters”
